so do you ever have times when everything seems to go wrong? not just for like a day but for days, weeks, etc?
it all started when the boys and i drove down to vegas a couple of weeks ago to move in with shawn. i noticed a funny clanking sound in the front of the van. our local friend, lindsay, helped us find a dependable mechanic. it needed maintenance work done, plus a few major repairs, including a "small" oil leak. we decided to start with the maintenance. WHILE it was in the shop, shawn's car wouldn't start. we had it towed and luckily all it needed was a new battery. we get the van back and notice a new crazy sound...turns out to be the power steering. meanwhile, the "small" oil leak, i swear over the next week, is getting bigger. i'm freaked out and check the oil every time we go somewhere.
our sweet friends nate and callie came to visit last weekend (that's a good thing). fri. night we're playing games and we all start to notice how hot it is. shawn messed with the thermostat hoping it would fix it. the next morning, still hot. the AC is busted. shut up. in 112 degree weather. awesome. the AC guy, eric, works overtime on a saturday to fix it. i don't care what religion you are, eric, you are going to heaven. callie and i take the boys to the mall just to be somewhere air conditioned while the guys sweat it out till its fixed.
THEN. sunday morning comes and i have to hustle myself to church to play the organ in sacrament (yes, it was only my second week in the ward). shawn and the boys are supposed to meet me there. they never show. after sacrament, shawn comes in and informs me that the van would not start...oh wait, it doesn't have a neutral gear to back it out of the garage in order to jump it. thank goodness walmart is open on sundays for a battery starter, which nate so kindly drove shawn to get. here's a shout out to nate and callie for being life-savers and still liking me after this weekend.
today we spent a gigantic sum to fix the stupid van. although, we almost couldn't pay because shawn's new debit card declined. turns out we can't spend over a certain amount in one day on the debit, and yes, the repair was WELL over that amount.
anything else waiting to happen? BRING IT!
if i sound cranky, i am, and i'm just venting. i wanna know who in my little family IS NOT SAYING THEIR PRAYERS?

the big move
so we're finally here in henderson and it is HOT. it was 123 degrees last fri, i'm not kidding you. oh, my gosh. pretty much we don't leave our house unless we're going to an air conditioned store. the house is awesome, pics to come, and everything is unpacked thanks to my mom who came with us for a week. love you, mom. it's an adjustment, mostly for me, but i'm sure it will be fine. we need to find some friends...
the hardest part was saying goodbye to family and friends. here's jack with his grandpa gibbs right before we took off.

here he is
i know this is only one picture, but here he is. this is our sam-boy. i seriously could post some pics of jack at this age and it would be the same. ok, maybe i'll do that. yes, i'm already the mom that takes a billion pictures of the first kid, and the second is continually jipped. sorry, sam.

the glorious 4th
we have pretty strong traditions for the 4th, but this year we had to relax a little because of sam-boy, so it was pretty chill. we went to the parade in the morning with my fam and bestest friends nate and callie. then we had a great bbq with shawn's fam that night. can't remember what we did in between, probably napped. we tried to do some sparklers with jack that night, but at first he was scared (can't blame him...what? a stick that shoots sparks that are very hot? no thanks, dad.) and then he thought they were lame. there's always next year...
