new year's resolution

notice how there is no "s" on the end of resolution. i feel as if i can only handle one resolution in my life right now, because if there are more, there is more chance for failure and therefore unnecessary guilt. mostly, if i were to be totally honest, i'm not very motivated by "new year's resolutions". do i sound a bit cynical? i apologize, don't know where that's coming from.

anywho, i am going to set one. we are going to read scriptures as a family every night and make it a HABIT. i feel like this is relatively in my reach because we already read with jack, we just need to include sam-boy and then tack on an amazing spiritually-charged prayer usually by said jack at the end of it. i'm also a creature of habit (like, bordering OCD), so i feel like this is realistic and achievable. maybe slide in the fact that we are commanded to do this, and it should be a done deal, right?

okay, maybe i have a small other goal...to get my business up and running. anyone having a wedding?...i'd love to sing at it. just saying.

Good goals, Katie! I think establishing daily family/personal scripture reading is a life-long battle! I've been trying to get that in the morning with the kids. Finally I'm offering Hannah & Maxwell 50 cents a day to get on track with it. Is that bad? They seem to be very motivated by money... ha ha. If I hear of any wedding planning happening, I'll definitely recommend you!

Katie, as a fellow non-resolution setter (just has never been my thing) I just wanted to share something I heard a few days ago. I was visiting teaching, and my partner asked our teachees if they did resolutions. One of them isn't into them either. My partner then mentioned that her friend sets a theme for the year rather than actual goals. Last year was "Live Intentionally" and this year is "Live Respectfully." She just tries to incorporate that idea into whatever she is doing and find things throughout the year to fulfill that goal. I like the idea and may start doing something similar because it doesn't lock you into something specific that you can feel you failed if you don't achieve, rather, it opens up a whole world of possibilities and things you may not think of in January but can fall under your year's theme. Anyway, just thought I would share. Hope you are all doing great!
