does anyone have any recommendations for a moving truck company? we should probably reserve one soon to get a better rate and i've been doing some price shopping, but does anyone have any horrendous stories, or any good ones for that matter? it would be most helpful.

blankies are the best

ok, so this feels a little surreal to me. this blanket that jack is cuddling with is my baby blanket that my great-grandma made for me. i LOVED this thing (still do) like i'm sure many of you did. when i need a little extra love, i still cuddle in it. well, here's my kid when he was itsy-bitsy and now, in my baby blanket. what's surreal? everything: i have a kid of my own (not to mention another on the way), he's huge already (where does the crazy time go?), and i still love my baby blanket like i did when i was 5.

oh, the style
jack loves to go swimming, so through the winter we've been going to the rec center on saturdays to swim and play ball. it's loads of fun and a way to get out and be active despite the cold weather. one saturday, we had put jack in his suit and while the rest of us were getting ready, he found his snow boots and wanted them on. it's the kind of outfit that when i see it on other little kids i think "why did your parents let you go out like that?" and now i know. it's hilarious. as you can see, he was a little embarrassed i think because shawn and i were laughing so hard.

the mystery ends
IT'S A BOY!!!!!
we just found out yesterday. kind of randomly crazy, i switched doctors all of the sudden on tues. and they had an opening for an ultrasound the next day (yesterday), so it was unexpected but very exciting. shawn and i were shocked, we had both been sure it was a girl and had gotten used to the idea. i said "are you sure?" to the technician and she said "oh, yes". then i asked if there was any way it would turn into a girl and she said "not this one". he was not shy about showing the whole package. i was bummed for about 10 min. and then got in my car and just started laughing. it's gonna be a lot of fun. growing up i always said i wanted all boys...here we go!

just some fun pics
jack's new favorite is hide and seek. he says "hide, hide, hide" and shawn and him jump under his blankie. once they're under, you can hear him say "ssshh" and i have to "find" them. if i don't he yells, "momma" until i come. this is the newest spot. then we have jack and his friend annika hiding under the table. their buddy jack was there but was a little too shy for the camera.

CALIFORNIA!!!
i'm finally getting a chance to blog our trip to cali over christmas break. last year, we went to chicago so i think this is going to be a tradition. anyway, shawn and i were lucky enough to run away for a second and see our good friends emily and alden lawrence. they were fantastic hosts/tour guides, we had so much fun with them. we got out and saw a few things, but otherwise did A LOT of talking and eating. emily and i are both pregnant-o, and it was nice to have someone as hungry as i was CONSTANTLY. thanks, em. emily took us to this awesome restaurant (how the heck do you spell that?) called the beachcomber. it was right on the beach, so the above pic is of me in front of the restaurant, and below is shawn and i turned around with the ocean behind us. so not only is the location amazing with the ocean breeze blowing on you (you can eat outside on the deck), but the food was great too. we had breakfast which is my favorite meal anyway. i ate mine and the rest of shawn's.
this is in front of san diego zoo, which was the only park we wanted to go to. i'd been like 15 yrs. ago and shawn had never been. one of the best zoos in the world. alden had the day off so we all got to go, with emily's bro. jeff, who is a fine young lad and has some of the greatest dance-in-the-car moves you've ever seen.
they took us to balboa island, on newport beach, super cool place, and as we're walking along the boardwalk we saw a gang of segwes. it was a class/tour and it was so funny cuz they all had their helmets on and went everywhere together in single file. shawn wanted a part in the fun.
and this is the official new year's eve celebration. it pretty much went by unnoticed unfortunately because we all agreed that it is overrated. i don't think the martinellis even happened at midnight. whatever. again, a shout out to emily and alden. thanks and it better happen again. we love you guys.
